services

Every individual's process with an end-of-life doula is unique.

One family might need several hours of discussion about living wills and medical directives, working with the Five Wishes template for example. Another might want sustained bedside support for one to two weeks to help usher their loved one peacefully through the transition of dying. Below are some examples of how you can be supported, and there are many more.

  • Practical Planning

Discussing advanced medical directives, obituary writing, memorial planning, and more.

  • Logistical planning

Vigil planning, coordinating visitors, respite care for caregivers, and more.

  • Life Review

End-of-life doulas use this process to help the dying and their loved ones reflect on their values, legacy, and life impact.

  • Legacy Projects

Heart letters, planned giving, or sharing meaningful personal items with friends and family.

frequently asked questions

What is a death doula?

End-of-life doulas provide non-medical, holistic support to those who are dying and their loved ones. They offer practical, emotional, and spiritual assistance, including end-of-life planning, legacy projects, and vigil care.

Doulas help with advance directives, funeral planning, and clarifying the dying process. They assist in creating a map of priorities, facilitate important conversations, and support decision-making. Death doulas also offer support to the bereaved before and after their loved one's passing.

Who needs a death doula?

  • Any person, family, or group wanting a conscious conversation on death.

  • The actively dying and terminally ill, their families and caregivers.

  • Any person or family wanting support and companionship, so they are not alone through the dying process.

  • Individuals, caregivers and families seeking consistent and compassionate guidance, support, vigil assistance, or ceremony for their dying loved one.

  • Individuals needing to process loss and grief in a safe, nonjudgemental container.
